Is Invisalign Painful?
Hi, I’m Dr Joshua Massad, and I’m one of the dentists here at Delight Dental Spa at Mascot, Sydney.
I was talking with one of our patients, Jessica from Matraville, a few weeks ago. She was considering Invisalign treatment but was also reluctant that she might be in pain after her bad experience when she had braces as a teenager. This is a question that we get asked often, so I thought I’d make a video sharing with you what I discussed with Jessica.
So remember how those metal brackets and wires could feel rough against your lips and cheeks? How they would sometimes poke into your cheeks? Well, if that sounds familiar, I’ve got some good news for you.
But, I should be honest here. Like any new thing you try, you may feel a bit of tightness around your teeth when you first start wearing Invisalign. You might even experience this feeling each time you change your aligner. But here’s the silver lining, this sensation is usually very manageable, and it only lasts a couple of days as your teeth move into their new position.
In fact, it’s so manageable that most people don’t need to take any painkillers at all, which is pretty impressive.
So, all things considered, Invisalign is definitely a great option if you’re thinking about aligning your teeth. It’s a lot more comfortable compared to the traditional braces route.
I hope this helped you gain a better understanding of Invisalign. If you’re considering aligning your teeth, we would love to look after you.
